🎶 The Song Genesis Refused To Play For Their 2007 Reunion Tour 🎶

Plus a Billy Strings tribute to Dickey Betts, a Roy Orbison deep dive, and more!

Good Morning. Some songs tend to lose meaning the more you play them, and some start with none at all. Such was the case for a post-Beatles Paul McCartney tune meant to dig at John Lennon, and a Genesis crowd favorite the band ultimately scrapped for their 2007 reunion tour, respectively. Find out which tracks those were below.

Genesis guitarist Mike Rutherford called the track “the most unromantic thing we had done.” When the band revisited the song years later for their 2007 reunion tour, drummer/singer Phil Collins said he couldn’t even make it past the first verse during rehearsals.

The famed bluegrass picker Billy Strings paid homage to the late Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts during a sold-out show in Tampa, Florida, at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. The touching tribute was made all the more special by the fact that Florida was the home state of the iconic Southern rock outfit.

Elvis Presley and the Everly Brothers rejecting Roy Orbison’s “Only the Lonely” turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Orbison used the track to open his 1961 debut ‘Lonely and Blue,’ after which the song quickly shot to No. 2 on the Billboard Pop chart.

The feud between ex-Beatles Paul McCartney and John Lennon continued long after the Fab Four parted ways. In typical McCartney fashion, he let his feelings be known via a track on his second album post-Beatles split, ‘Ram,’ which he released with his wife, Linda.
